Oh my goodness, what a fabulous list. I joined. The main purpose is not to discuss medical treatments, but to to ask for support and advice from those who have been there, and to have a place to relax in lives which are often tense and sometimes unbearable. It sounds awesome!
Would like to see an article/advice on being the "parent" of a bi-polar child. More and more kids today who were initially diagnosed as ADHD, etc. are being found to be bi-polar in their later (adolescent) years. Would like to hear more on this. Even some kids as young as 5 or 6 are being given this diagnosis, though with my experience the medical professionals shy away from labeling it as bi-polar until after the child has reached full maturity (I don't question their hesitation, as this is is hard diagnosis to make). As a result, it is constant turmoil and second-guessing for the parents involved. Should I have my kid on ADHD drugs or Bi-polar drugs, or a combo, or what??? The trial and error process can be daunting. Some insight would be so welcome. THANKS!!!
This seems like a must for partners of people who have bipolar disorder, and parents and siblings of adults with bipolar, especially when they aren't going to any kind of support group where other people understand. The range of information listed is excellent and once a member, it's doubtful whether someone else hasn't dealt with similar issues. Great find!
Excellent resources for people living with bi polar family members. I am not so I didn't join but it would be fantastic to have the support of this internet group who have first hand experience with what you are going thru.
