NAMI has a good reputation as an organization, and I think they did a good job here of outlining the symptoms of bipolar and the medications commonly used to treat it. It's a very readable page as well. I find the information on side effects of the medications to be particularly good--it's hard to find side-by-side comparisons like that without a lot of bias. It could be more detailed, but as an overview of what meds and why, it works. My quibbles with it: they use the term manic depression, which is out of date (they only mention the term at the beginning of the article, but don't say that it is outdated) and there is no mention of the difficulties of treating bipolar disorder with medication. Bipolar disorder is particularly difficult to medicate, in part because mania feels good to a lot of people and they go off the medication, which results in worse mood swings.
