I think the introduction of atypical antipsychotics usher in a new era for the treatment of bipolar disorder. Mood stabilizers and anti-depressants, along with lithium make a huge difference. The problem is the cost of these new drugs.
Fascinating. I think many psychiatrists and other doctors must be shaking their heads at this one since so many of them prescribe an antidepressant along with a mood stabilizer. Studies like this make it very clear that people with this disorder need the most up-to-date doctors they can find.
