This article is good, but I have a problem with one statement: "With proper treatment and a solid support system, people with bipolar disorder are capable of leading rich and fulfilling lives. They can hold jobs, sustain loving marriages, raise children, and be productive members of society." There are some bipolar sufferers who cannot work because the illness is so severe that the medication and environmental stability makes them not violent, or not delusional, but they will never get to the point where they could go out in society and hold a job. That is major stress. And what families need to understand is that in taking care of someone like this, they are a loss statement. The family's economic condition goes down, and the family has to value the human being enough not to care. In my partner's family, this didn't happen. They are still in denial. They dumped him to protect their lifestyles.
